a day prior

Uncertain of tomorrow, I will post now. I have completed quite a bit of work, when compared to the past few days. The template for my DVD is now complete, everyone rejoice. I have completed my first attempt at fixing that little image I came across one Saturday morn. I'm considering giving it a 'facelift'. Although I really like that old comic book print texture, I'm curious to see what I can do. Enough delays, here it is:

Convenient for Kings

The interesting thing about working for yourself is that, well, you're to blame. Just throwing that out there. Progress is coming along smoothly on my two projects. I figured out what I need to do for my 16mm film scanner. I'll spend some time after this post sketching it out and hopefully my first attempt is a success. I'm fragile. As for the second project I started planning - it's coming to a big big wall. The scale that I first imagined might be too much at the moment. Baby steps, as they say, is what I need first. So if things go well, with what I will also be planning on later tonight, I might have something to show in about a month. A sampling of sorts.

So my DVDs are almost complete! If only the printing place had provided me with the proper template. If only I had found the proper template. If only we had figured it out from the beginning. OH WELL. Back we go to finding the correct template. It's okay, because I have EBTG on and it's calming me. Weird, I know.

Three projects, one on the drawing board, one in fruition, and one in completion. Awesome, I hope I can keep this pace. I also hope that I can acquire those grants I'm looking into. Know of any great opportunities in the way of artist's grants? Let me know!

I did not forget, my monkey/woman scan attempt is also in the works. Four projects, then.

Flesh of leprous rot

I have started reading Mark Z. Danielewski's 'Only Revolutions'. One should note that 'House of Leaves' is an amazing piece to read, and 'Revolutions' does not disappoint. Look into him if you want to experience an alternate form of fiction. I'm in the process of uploading a film, but who knows when it will be complete. RoTW will wait until tomorrow as I don't want to meddle with the upload, silly I know but I'm superstitious at the moment. You will be happy to know that I have begun to work on another project, this time an installation piece. It will take over a year to complete, only because it requires an actual year. I hope I can actually find a gallery interested in it, for it should be awesome if all goes well. Progress on the filmstrip piece is slow, as I'm still in need of making a device that can assist me in scanning 16mm film with my flatbed. Essentially I need the equivalent of the 35mm negative film tray that came with my scanner, but for 16mm. I think if I can gather some rollers out of a 16mm magazine or camera, I will be set. Suggestions?

A new group of individuals have seen my thesis. They liked it enough to hold a little public screening of it at an 'art walk' of sorts. It will be during the first weekend of April somewhere in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. More information will be available once I hear back from the fellas. They will be screening 'synapse' (my thesis) and 'sample16' together or separate, something like that. These two are also the films I am in the process of printing onto DVDs. Perhaps I can get a batch down to the valley in time for the 'walk'.

Juggle This was this weekend. As I am a juggler, I went. So much fun. It reminded me that I am not devoting enough time to doing the things I really want to do professionally. Cool, I would say. So I have spent the rest of my weekend organizing my space, preparing it for future projects that I hope will happen. Of course, the near future might involve moving again, so we'll see which happens first. Films coming soon, most definitely.

i managed a 50 point word score on scrabble with only the letter 'x'.

And in other news: the paris photos are up, under 'Places'. I have more, but this is a place for sampling. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Mercury rising

I have added the recipe section, a distraction for any who want to bother with it. Should be fun as it will allow me to keep track of random recipes, so if it is of no use for you - it will be for me.

I came across a gallery today while I was walking around. I was in search of pants so it's a great find. I also came across an exhibition at this gallery. I might go see it, as I am a fan of Chris Ware.

An update: I am almost done with my DVD. Honest. I might finish the short Paris photo series I have been slowly working on, depending if I decide to fold my laundry instead. We came across a conversation yesterday. In short, the conversation was about the lack of an underground art scene in the NYC area. I think they believed the U.S., the Americas in general, no longer sustained an underground art scene. We quickly evacuated the area. How ridiculous, how unfortunate.
